Deceased Name: JEROME TARAN Jerome Taran, 74, of Duluth passed away Thursday, Jan. 11,
2001, in St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth after a courageous battle with
leukemia. He was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Duluth to Harry and Sarah
(London) Taran. Jerome married Lucille Meade Jan. 25, 1947, in Duluth. He
lived his entire life in Duluth except for six years in Texas and 11 years in
Virginia, Minn., where Jerome managed the Co-op and Piggly Wiggly Store
there. He was co-owner of East End Bottle Shop and Lake Superior Liquor. Jerome was a member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion, DAV
and was an avid golfer at Lester Park Golf Course. Jerome was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He
will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Jerome is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille of
Duluth; daughters Peggy (Jim) Proudlock and Stacey (Curt) Dimberio, both of
Duluth, and Deborah (Steve) Frensz of Milwaukee; a sister, Florence Hanna of
Duluth; brothers Oscar Taran of Duluth and Frank (Eve) Taran of Minneapolis;
and grandchildren Shawn, Kara, Mandy, Lindsay and Casey. A celebration of life for immediate family and special
friends from noon to 3 p.m. today in Hammond Supper Club, Superior. Memorials
may be made in Jerome's name to: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5217 Wayzata
Blvd., Suite 221, St. Louis Park, MN 55416. Arrangements by Johnson Mortuary.
